FAQ

  • When and where is it?

Easter weekend, 15–18 April 2022 at Kingswood Grosvenor Hall, Ashford, Kent, TN25 4AJ.

    Arrival and check-in on Fri 15 April: 2:00 – 3:00pm.
    End of camp and pick-up on Mon 18 April: 4:30 – 5:00pm.

  • Who is it for?
YEC is for members of The Next Generation Ministry’s youth groups, open to secondary school ages. If you want to bring a friend, that’s great too!
  • How do I get there?

Transport is not provided so you will need to make your own travel arrangements.

For SatNav please use TN24 9JZ: As you are about to reach your destination and have turned left with the Harvester Pub on your right and the Pharmacy on your left, take the second left turn with the large Kingswood Grosvenor Hall signing showing a left turn then follow this road all the way to the centre entrance gates.

  • What about COVID-19?

Our camp has been postponed since 2020 due to the COVID-19 restrictions. There are currently no restrictions on youth activity centres or schools, so our event can go ahead. If this changes, we’ll let you know.

We may ask attendees to test negative before coming, and we will certainly practise good hygiene measures while we’re there. If you test positive or develop any symptoms of illness, you must not attend.

  • What will we be doing there?

There will be games, worship, teaching, sports, prayer, some surprises, and a life-changing experience! You’ll belong to a small group with other youths your age, where you can talk about what’s going on in your head and your heart with a leader who will look after you.

During free time, you can make new friends, study if you need to, or join in with some activities that will be organised for you. You’ll also have the chance to attend a topical or creative workshop led by some of our amazing youth leaders.

  • What’s the theme of the main sessions?

    ROOTED

We all feel like our lives have been uprooted in some way these last couple of years, right?!
This year, we’re coming back together to discover how: ‘Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.
Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong’ – Ephesians 3:17, NLT.

Rising up to live out a lasting faith in Jesus starts with setting our roots in him, in his community, and in his mission in the world. Just like the roots of a plant… Are your roots keeping you strong? What are your foundations or the source you’re connected to? What conditions are you surrounded by? What fruit are you bearing by the way you live?

  • Who is the keynote speaker?
Our guest speaker is Ansonia Wong, youth pastor from the Birmingham Chinese Evangelical Church. Many of us know Ansy from PHAT Camp, the annual youth camp for Chinese churches run in partnership with COCM.
  • What’s the food like?

Our first meal will be dinner on Friday evening, so make sure you eat lunch before you arrive.

At mealtimes we’ll eat together in the Kingswood Kitchen. You can see a sample menu here. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know when you register.

Many people in our church like to bring some cup noodles to enjoy as a late night snack!

  • What do I need to do to join?

Registration is open until 20 February 2022. Your registration is only complete when we’ve received your online registration form, payment, and parental consent form.

Our booking with the venue has been carried over from 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. If you already registered and paid for YEC20 before it was postponed then please indicate this when you register and there will be no need to make any further payment.

If you are registering for the first time: There is no guarantee that a space will be available but please continue to register as spaces will be offered on a first come first served basis. This will be confirmed after we have received confirmation from pre-registered attendees and when registration closes.

  • How much does it cost?

The camp fee is £170 per youth attendee.

If you already registered and paid for YEC20 before it was postponed then please indicate this when you register and there will be no need to make any further payment.
