“【Nehemiah】 Call to Stepping Out” Sermon Series 19 October – 28 December 2025

In 444 B.C.E., Nehemiah led the Third Return, as governor, and it took only 52 days to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. The reconstruction of the walls is a politically sensitive issue that is bound to provoke a huge backlash from the local elite and to the detriment of vested interests. There would also be people who pretend to be kind to help, but in fact they had bad intentions. It really needs a leader like Nehemiah who answers the call wholeheartedly and sees the situation and humanity in all its aspects. Nehemiah has been described as a responsive prayer responder, an agent who relies on God, a coordinator who mobilizes the multitude, a leader in the face of challenges, a calmer who boils over grievances, and a defender who anticipates tricks, a digger of abundant resources, a rebuilder of spiritual life, a confessor of thorough reflection, an advocates of God’s glory, a practitioner of sanctification, and a reformer who persevere to the end. From Nehemiah, CCIL will equip the congregation for its 75th anniversary.
