During the period of the Judges, the Israelites lacked a system of succession for leaders or a mature leadership system. They followed foreign gods and engaged in pagan worship. Foreign invasions and internal strife arose simultaneously. In an era of everyone doing what is right in his eyes, the judges led the people in response, but the situation only worsened. In the face of Western individualism that rejects authority and the traditional Chinese culture of stable governance, how should Chinese churches in the UK position themselves and avoid becoming like the Canaanites? How can they live a life that is separated from secular and practices biblical values? What kind of team-players and leaders does CCIL need? We pray that the ten-lesson sermon series on the Book of Judges will shed light on us as we explore how to transform ourselves, rebuild our spiritual homes, and gain the strength to bless and influence our society, thus fulfilling the Lord’s purposes for the UK.
